But reading and watching the movie truly is a different experience. Even though I've seen the movies repeatedly year after year, I was still on my toes while I was turning the pages of my book. It was like I was seeing all of this for the first time!

I've really developed a deeper love, respect, and understanding for this series and the Wizarding world. I especially loved the fact that we actually got to learn about Remus Lupin and his backstory as a werewolf. I never would've learned any of this if I never decided to pick up these books.

This series just gets better and better, and darker and darker. I can slowly see how Harry Potter is moving away from middle grade and into young adult. I'm really looking forward to how that shift becomes more prominent in the later books.

I loved the fact that we got SO much more in this book. We get to see lots of magical aspects in this book, and learning about the Patronous, then well see Harry, Ron and Hermione grow as characters.

My main thing with this book is that Rowling can be kind of I wanted to be having a great time, but instead I was caught up in the little mistakes. She would have recognized it as unnecessary Hermione never even gives a reason beyond "wanting to" for her overloaded schedule and a huge pressure workload's making a thirteen year old cry all the time and lose the ability to sleep.

In other words, Minerva would have shut that shit down in a hot Texas minute. But wait - I have more examples! Keep in mind this whole thing is for one. They put in a magic, violent tree the infamous Whomping Willow, dig a tunnel that is presumably at least a mile or two long, and mess with build?

This is way, way, way too much to ensure that a single student can attend the school. Also, putting in the Whomping Willow? Are you kidding me? There are so, so, so many more problems than solutions here.

Since Ron had earlier mentioned that it would have been impossible for Black to buy a broomstick, J. Also, how did my guy have that much money in his account anyway? How is his account even open?

Also, I know this is well-discussed, but there is just so much conflicting information about how many people attend Hogwarts. It drives me insane. The sheer confusion of the story relayed in the Shrieking Shack was also so confusing.

On the other hand, characters. And slaying those exams! But Snape was here as hell and I hate him so much. But no Colin Creevey or Lockhart or Dobby! But Trelawney and Malfoy and Pansy. But mainly he was villain-ing it up.

Still, it was definitely enjoyable. I missed doing it. And this was so, so much better than the second book. So this is so hard to rate! I am having a really hard time here, you guys. And my absolute favorite aspect of these books - which was missing in the second volume - was one hundred percent present and accounted for.

We get Hogsmeade, we get an entire fortnight of Diagon Alley, we get a bunch of discussion of the school and the classes. Even the bad parts, like Azkaban. In some ways I liked this as much as the first, but it definitely had more problems.

I laughed so hard in the middle of the night because of this. I wish I were there to see Percy's face when Fred and George said that. I mean Percy is so stritch about rules and he always study, study, study, so the thought of Percy's having a girlfriend was never crossed my mind.

But he was cool enough to get a girlfriend. I think he did it to save his own skin without thinking twice about his bestfriend's life. James and Lily Potter died because of him and how dare he to say that Sirius was the one who betrayed James Potter!

That moment I realised that Harry was so kind. This book also have the best ending. He's a convicted murderer, but he's broken out of wizard prison and he's on the run. He likes to keep in touch with me, though Thank you guys for reading and liking my review.

There is a darker, more muted color tone which fits the book series, where the books become more and more serious as He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named grows in power. There are the inevitable changes to the story, which I really found I liked; you do have to telescope some of the long scenes down in a film, and often you have to conflate a character or two to keep the film moving. Leaving a new director in its place in Alfonso Cuaron. This director takes a more teenaged element to the franchise as well as upping the notch for the storytelling and the scenery. More of a livelier atmosphere is injected, fantastical but still respectful of the previous works.

Harry Potter has triumphed against Lord Voldemort's attempt to return in two straight adventures and now must deal with a new threat presented with the escape of a wizard that had ties with Voldemort and now things are more difficult than ever for Harry when it comes to living his life in the wizarding world.

Things aren't how they appear, but there is plenty of action and amazing new effects along with some old and new faces. I also don't like Cuaron's style, its a little too loose, I preferred Chris Columbus's style. Some of the cast is amazing.

Gary Oldman and David Thewlis were well cast. But I dislike how much was ripped out from the book, especially considering the depth and breadth of what led to the escape of Sirius Black and of course how and why Voldemort's servant had been able to hide for so long.

In divination class, Professor Trelawney foresees Harry's death by reading tealeaves and finding the representation of a Grim, a large black dog symbolizing death.

In the care of magical creatures class, Hagrid introduces the students to Hippogriffs, large, deeply dignified crosses between horses and eagles. Malfoy insults one of these beasts, Buckbeak, and is attacked.

Malfoy drags out the injury in an attempt to have Hagrid fired and Buckbeak put to sleep. In Defense Against the Dark Arts, Professor Lupin leads the class in a defeat of a Boggart, which changes shape to appear as the viewer's greatest fear.

For Lupin, it turns into an orb, for Ron, a spider. Harry doesn't have a chance to fight it. During a Hogwarts visit to Hogsmeade, a wizard village which Harry is unable to visit because he has no permission slip, Harry has tea with Professor Lupin.

Harry discovers that the reason he wasn't allowed to fight the Boggart was that Lupin had worried that it would take the shape of Voldemort. This concern catches Harry by surprise, because Harry had been thinking even more fearfully about the awful Dementors.

Snape brings Lupin a steaming potion, which Lupin drinks, much to Harry's alarm. The students spend the night sleeping in the Great Hall while the teachers search the castle. Soon afterwards, Quidditch moves into full swing, and Gryffindor House plays against Hufflepuff.

During the game, Harry spies the large black dog, and seconds later he sees a hoard of Dementors. He loses consciousness and falls off his broomstick. Harry wakes to find that his trusty broomstick had flown into the Whomping Willow and been smashed in his fall, and the game itself had lost.

Later, Harry learns from Lupin that the Dementors affect Harry so much because Harry's past is so horrible. This map leads him through a secret passageway into Hogsmeade, where he rejoins Ron and Hermione.

Inside the Hogsmeade tavern, Harry overhears Cornelius Fudge discussing Sirius Black's responsibility for Harry's parents' deaths, as well as for the death of another Hogwarts student, Peter Pettigrew, who was blown to bits, leaving only a finger.
